Following the opening in our Rome and London galleries of Jan Fabre's solo exhibition centered on his latest coral sculptures and blood drawings, Galleria Mucciaccia is pleased to announce its winter season in Cortina with the exhibition 'Jan Fabre Dream Castles (Drawings and Photographs)', featuring a selection of works created by the artist since the late 1980s.

Drawings, photographs and film form this journey into, the "romantic" and poetic, yet always radical and symbolic, imagery that characterises one of the most interesting and innovative artists on the international contemporary art scene.

In these works, the artist has explored two themes that are very dear to him, those of the Castles and the so-called Hour Blue, that particular moment in which night and day, sleep and wakefulness and by extension, life and death, meet. In fact, the drawings in the exhibition are made with a simple blue Bic biro, with which he creates a dense web of lines, conveying an energetic movement capable of deeply involving the observer, an immersive work that reveals the artist's most intimate, true and instinctive feelings.

The fusion of aesthetics and ethics is also evident in the photographs accompanying the exhibition, among which those documenting "Tivoli" (1990), one of the works that consecrated Jan Fabre's artistic career at world level, are of particular interest. This is when the artist completely covered the castle of Tivoli (Mechelen) with blue bic-drawn sheets, leaving them to be transformed by the light and the weather. A true architectural performance that the artist filmed day and night, making a film that is present in the exhibition.
