Regardless of culture or creed, Mary is of every age and accessible to everyone. Beautiful and surprising images of Mary tell the story of her miraculous life. Let Mary take you on an inspiring journey lasting two millennia, brimming with new information and insights about the most influential and portrayed woman in the world.

The exhibition will bring many fascinating Marys together from national and international collections and will set out to display exciting combinations. There will be radiant Marys from the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Van Gogh Museum and the Mauritshuis, to mention just a few. Discover the many sides of this woman who belongs to the world, and how her image was shaped from pre-Christian proto-mothers and goddesses.

Mary is the subject of icons and paintings, manuscripts, sculptures, tattoos and video installations. She served as a source of inspiration for the finest artists, among them Rubens, Rembrandt, Pieter de Grebber, Jan Toorop, Jan Fabre and Maria Roosen, who will all be represented in the show.
